Our Workshops & Makeke experience is designed to celebrate creativity, culture, community, and connection. Through hands-on cultural activities and a marketplace featuring talented young entrepreneurs, guests are invited to engage, learn, and support local makers in a meaningful way.
2026 Workshops
We are honored to feature Japanese Calligraphy and Palai HI as interactive cultural experiences, offering opportunities to explore traditional and contemporary artistic practices. These paid experiences help deepen engagement with the cultural knowledge and creative traditions that enrich our community. Proceeds from these activities will directly support Hawaii Children's Action Network's mission and programs. (Stay tuned for pricing and participation details.)

About Kaede Calligraphy School Hawaiʻi: Kaede Calligraphy School Hawaiʻi offers Japanese calligraphy instruction for children and adults of all levels, from beginners to advanced students. Lessons are available in both Japanese and English.

About PALAI: PALAI is a woman/AAPI-owned botanical and floral business rooted in community, education, and a deep love for Hawaiʻi’s plants, people, and cultural practices.
Our philosophy is Learning, Connecting, & Doing. We believe learning a skill is only the first step. Through hands-on workshops, community events, and accessible resources, we create opportunities for people to connect with culture, place, nature, and one another. We then provide the tools, materials, and support needed to continue practicing these skills long after a workshop ends.
Inspired by native plants, environmental stewardship, and place-based learning, we strive to foster a deeper appreciation for Hawaiʻi’s unique ecosystems and cultural traditions. More than a floral or botanical business, PALAI is a community-centered space dedicated to cultivating creativity, connection, and lifelong learning through hands-on experiences.

2026 Keiki Makeke
We're also proud to showcase our Keiki Vendors, including Crochet Creations and Kahele Kine Tings, who will be selling their handmade crafts and creations throughout the event. By supporting these young entrepreneurs, guests help encourage creativity, confidence, and business leadership among our next generation. Funds raised through keiki vendor sales will go directly to the young makers themselves.
Crochet CreationsBella Botello & Keʻalohi Fong Bella and Kealohi are best friends who love creating, laughing, and learning together! As homeschool students, they enjoy the freedom to explore their interests, and one of their favorite adventures has been starting a small crochet business. What began as a fun hobby has grown into a joyful way to share their creativity with others. From colorful plushies to handmade gifts, every item is crafted with love, imagination, and plenty of happy conversations along the way. When they’re not crocheting, you’ll usually find them dancing, making music, or serving in the children’s ministry at Ark Christian Church in Kaneohe. They enjoy encouraging younger kids and being an active part of their church community. Bella and Kealohi are excited to be part of this special event and are especially grateful that their handmade creations can help raise funds to bless children and families in need. They hope their crochet brings a smile to your face and reminds you that even small hands can make a big difference! |

Kahele Kine TingsPomai Kahele Pōmaikaʻi Kahele is a 17-year-old homeschool senior with a deep love for her Hawaiian heritage and a passion for sharing it with others. Introduced to traditional Native Hawaiian craftsmanship by her kumu, she quickly discovered that weaving with lauhala was more than just an art form—it became a meaningful way to express her connection to her culture and tell its story. Proud to call both ʻEwa Beach on Oʻahu and Miloliʻi on Hawaiʻi Island home, Pōmaikaʻi draws inspiration from the people, traditions, and natural beauty of the islands she loves. In addition to being a talented crafter and young entrepreneur, Pōmaikaʻi is an accomplished hula dancer and a proficient drummer, embracing the rich traditions of Hawaiian music and dance alongside her weaving. She is grateful for every opportunity to celebrate and preserve the beauty of Hawaiian culture through her art, hoping each handcrafted piece reflects the aloha, history, and craftsmanship that have been passed down through generations. |
